Cloth Diapers - getting started
How many diapers will I need?

Newborns need to be changed every 2-3 hours, 24 hours per day, you'll need a minimum of three dozen. This should be enough to give you an every-other-day laundering cycle.   If you are using prefolds or fitted diapers, you will also need 6-8 covers.  If you are using all-in-one diapers, you won't need the covers!

After 3 months: To maintain change frequency and every-other-day laundering cycle, you will need about two dozen diapers at every sizeOlder babies don't wet as frequently as newborns but when they do wet it is much heavier. To compensate for this can add doublers, or extra absorbency pads.   One doubler for each diaper is adequate. If you are using prefolds or fitted diapers, you will also need 6-8 covers.  If you are using all-in-one diapers, you won't need the covers!

Once you start cloth diapering, you can adjust your inventory to meet your change and laundering cycles.  If you can afford an extra day's worth of provisions -- it's certainly worth it!
